The 21st Century of today is rightly termed as the knowledge-explosion century. Due to the advent of globalization, the 21st century is witnessing rapid change and development in the fields of science, social sciences and technology etc. Kherajkhat College came into existence to impart quality education; to instill scientific temper and creativity among the stakeholders. The College has a vision to reach the unreached and impart excellent education. This college has been instrumental in spreading higher education in this rural and tribal centric area and moulding quality human resource for the betterment of the society.

Kherajkhat College is a premier institution of Higher Education in the district of Lakhimpur, Assam. Established in 1982 and permanently affiliated to Dibrugarh University, the college has been included under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956, and accredited by the UGC-NAAC in 2017. Recently the college has been upgraded to Model Degree College (MDC) in 2018 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD); Govt. of India. The College imparts education in Arts and Science at Under Graduate level in both Assamese and English medium. Besides, the College felicitates P.G. Courses under Directorate of Open and Distance Learning of Dibrugarh University (DODL, DU) and Post Graduate Diploma, Under Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses under Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU).

This college has been instrumental in spreading higher education in this rural and tribal centric area and moulding quality human resource for the betterment of the society. The College is located at historic Kherajkhat Mouza, the birth place of the great Vaishnavite saint Sri Sri Madhabdev, is well-connected with places of the state by roads and railways. The College stands along the NH-15 and the distance from the district headquarter North Lakhimpur town and Narayanpur town is 45 K.M. and 10 K.M. respectively.
