Kherajkhat College is an emerging institution of higher education in the district of Lakhimpur, Assam. Established in 1982 and affiliated to Dibrugarh University and Madhabdev University respectively, the College has been included under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956. The college holds the pride of being the first college to be accredited by UGC-NAAC in 2017 among the colleges of Assam newly provincialised in 2013. Subsequently, the college has been upgraded to Model Degree College (MDC) in 2018 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India.
 
The college imparts education in Arts and Science at Under Graduate level in both Assamese and English medium. Fulfilling the long-standing urge and necessity of this bordering region, Science education at Higher Secondary level has been introduced from the current session of 2025-26.
 
Besides, the college has initiated a Skill and Entrepreneurial Development Centre under which various skill based and employmentoriented subjects such as Driving, Beautician, Electrician etc. have been introduced along with different Addon Courses from this academic session aiming at holistic academic transaction. Similarly, the college facilitates P.G. Courses under Directorate of Open and Distance Learning of Dibrugarh University (DODL, DU) andPost Graduate Diploma, Under Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses under Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU).
 
The present-day college has three campuses and infrastructure built on green and hazard free environment. The college has a Central Library well stocked with books and journals along with well-furnisheddesignated reading rooms for the students and faculty as well. The 34 Seated state-of-the-art Boys’ Hostel constructed under Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana (BJRCY) facilitates accommodation for distant boy students while the Girls’ Hostel has been scheduled to operate from the current session. Besides, the college has well-equipped laboratories in different academic departments,an active career counselling cell, a proactive alumni cell, a well-equipped gymnasium hall and a well-maintained canteen.
 
The college has been instrumental in spreading higher education in this rural and tribal centric area and moulding quality human resource for the socio-economic betterment of the society. The college is in mission mode to uplift this remote and underprivileged area of the state by maximising the available resources and creating new avenues for materialising entrepreneurial and extra-curricular potentialitiesof the students along with academic excellence.
 
The College , located at historic Kherajkhat Mouza, the birth place of the great Vaishnavite saint Sri Sri Madhabdev, is well-connected with places of the state by road, rail and air. The College stands along the NH-15 and the distance from the district headquarter North Lakhimpur town and Narayanpur town is 45 km and 10 km respectively. The nearest airport is Doyni Polo Airport, Hollongi, Arunachal Pradesh at a distance of 30 km.
